Look: Print Quality
Lines should be sharp and well defined with no blurred edges. Colours should be clear and distinct. Print Quality
Look: Transmission
As the note is a polymer note there is no watermark, however due to the substrate used when the note is held up to the light you should be able to see visible images from the opposite side. Transmission
Look: Mask
If you look at the circular area to the left hand side of the domed roof you will see a thistle pattern but when held up to the light the number 5 appears. Mask
Look: Security Thread
The security thread is visible as a solid silver line on both the front and back of the note and runs from the top to the bottom of the note between the 1 and 0 of the number 10. Security Thread
Look: See Through
There is a clear polymer window on the centre left of the note when viewed from the front. The partial outline of the number ‘10’ and the Spark® Orbital image of a cog wheel sit within the window. Running along the top edge of the clear window you should also see ‘DB 10 DB 10 DB 10’. See Through
Look: Microprint
Microprinting features in various locations throughout the note and some examples which you can see using a good magnifying glass are given here.
  • The words ‘DANSKEBANK’ is written repeatedly in concentric circular patterns within the 4 corners of the note
  • ‘DANSKEBANK’ is also written repeatedly along the bottom edge of the portrait
  • The letters ‘DB’ and the number ‘10’ can be found in the cog wheel designs in the centre background area of the note
  • Microprint
    Look: Serial Numbers
Each note has a unique serial number which is printed twice on the front of the note, horizontal on the upper left and vertical on the bottom right. Serial numbers for the £10 note consist of two letters followed by seven numbers. The horizontal serial number is black and the vertical red. Serial Numbers
    Look: Denomination Numerals
The number ‘10’ appears in the top left and centre of the note and accompanied by a £ sign in the top right on the front of the note. A partial 10 also overlaps the clear window on the left of the note. Denomination Numerals
    Feel: Polymer Quality
The note should feel smoother than a paper note, though this will reduce over time. Like paper notes, polymer notes have raised print giving them a tactile quality. Polymer Quality
    Feel: Raised Print
You will feel raised print if you run your finger along:
    • The Danske Bank name

    Tilt: Iridescence
If you move the note around you will see 6 pairs of lines of shiny gold coloured hexagons of varying length that will shimmer. The lines run from both the top and bottom edges of the note with only 1-line meeting. Iridescence
    Tilt: Spark® Orbital
The circular cog wheel set over the transparent polymer window which is printed in shiny metallic ink will change colour from green to blue and can be seen from both sides of the note. You will also see a circular effect as you tilt the note. Spark
    Tilt: Lift Classic
If you tilt the front of the note away from you at an oblique angle and look along its breadth, the number '10' can be seen within the white circular mosaic pattern on the centre left of the note. The pattern and solid green background square continue on the right-hand edge of the note. Lift Classic
    Check: UV Fluorescence
If you place the note under a good quality ULTRA-VIOLET light, you will see a solid rectangular block towards the centre top of the note that will fluoresce. Within the block you will see the number '10'. The large '10' to the left of the portrait, the edges of the circles along with areas of the background will also fluoresce. UV Fluorescence
    Check: Gemini UV Printing
If you place the note under a good quality ULTRA-VIOLET light, you will see there are areas of the note that appear as a single colour in daylight but fluoresce as two separate colours under ultra-violet light.
